No heat or no AC? Check these 6 things first.
Some problems take a minute to fix yourself. If none of these do it, call us any hour at (540) 354-1279.
Check the thermostat
Make sure it’s set to Heat or Cool, not Off, and set a few degrees past the room temperature.
Blank screen? If it takes batteries, put in fresh ones.
Check the breakers
Most systems have one breaker for the indoor unit and one for the outdoor unit. If one has tripped, reset it once.
If it trips again, leave it off and call us.
Check the furnace switch
Most furnaces and air handlers have a switch nearby that looks like a light switch. Make sure it’s on.
Look at the air filter
A clogged filter chokes the airflow and can make the system run poorly or shut down. If it’s gray and dusty, replace it.
Look at the outdoor unit
Clear away leaves, grass and snow from around it.
See ice on the lines or the coil? Turn the system off and call us. Running it iced up can make things worse.
Smell gas? Get out first.
Leave the house right away. Don’t flip switches or light anything. Call your gas company or 911 from outside, then call us once you’re safe.
Day or night, call Dooley’s.
Open 24 hours, every day. Estimates on new systems are free.
